In a busy noisy world “Point of a difference” is what makes a person stand out from the crowd.
I have a kiwi (NZ) friend who came to the land of dreams determined to make it big in the acting world. The first thing he did was lose his New Zealand accent, the second thing he did was lose the ultra friendly, laid back kiwi attitude. He became a “pseudo American” and meeting him again after 12 short months was like running full noise into a horror movie.
In trying to become like everyone else in town, he not only became a fraud but he also lost his point of difference. Think about it… the thing that would stop people in the street, the accent that American girls love, the friendly laid back attitude that is like a beacon of light in this busy self indulgent town he deliberately lost; he gave up his gold and merged in.
I have a busy day today; I must go to the grocery store and do all my washing… maybe when I say “Gidday mate” I’ll find a new friend.
