Instead of using Hollywood Stars

5 Jan

This is one way Hollywood traditionally markets their films… they find at least two big stars, they pay them millions of dollars and they cast them in the film whether they are right for the story or not. They cast them because they assume that stars guarantee bums on seats whether the movie is good or not.

It’s good risk taking and lazy story telling.

Here is a new idea; instead of using stars to promote your film why not use your characters to promote your film. Do your characters have a life before the camera rolls? What if the audience got to see a little of that life?

I often think of my favourite movie “once”….which if I’m correct in the story I know about this movie…was filmed in a very short length of time…on a very limited budget…with characters played by people not previously known to most of the world. I don’t know what you think about this movie…but I think they tell a very cool story…

Personally I don’t watch movies cause it has a big star in it…I watch a movie cause it’s going to leave me with something….

Keep up what you are doing…..can’t wait to sit down one day and enjoy the great storytelling you are going to share with us.
