It takes a village to raise a child and it also takes a village to heal a person. Of course it depends on what type of village and who’s leading it; plenty of villages have destroyed children and broken a person in two.
What is the modern-day structure of a village; and what does that look like on the streets of Bagdad, in central London, Istanbul, Manhattan, Chicago, Sydney or Auckland, in case you haven’t noticed (in the west) we don’t live in traditional villages anymore.
But we still group ourselves together, we still have a thirst for friendship and relationship. We come together in commitment phobic clusters around special interests, common appetites or functions.
There is a deeply profound need inside each person to know and to be known… centuries of progress can’t change the innate workings of you and me… where’s your villages, and is it shallow or is it deep?
