Being small is good because it’s truthful, being big is horrible because it’s a terrible bastardly lie. We are all very small, we are all very small indeed.
One needs only to witness the power of an earthquake, or the death of a seemingly invincible friend to realize the truth behind this statement. It’s much more difficult to walk through life with an acute awareness of your own mortality, which is probably why most of us choose not to think about it very much. However I think their are many, many advantages to not remaining in such an egotistical state of oblivion.
It is good to be off balance and out of control, this forces us into a place of trust, it forces us to need others, it sends us off on a quest to find faith. Being small is good, because you and I are very small indeed.
