… I don’t mean to interrupt you…

12 Mar

I don’t mean to interrupt you on your lazy Saturday morning but have you considered the following…

Life is found when your schedule is interrupted, when your plans are subverted, when a stranger knocks you to the ground, or when your car breaks down. We don’t tell stories about perfect order, easy achievement, or complete success. If you don’t allow your agenda to be interrupted, if you refuse to converse with strangers then you are probably going to have a very boring life.

Accidents, mistakes, crazy people, communication snafu’s, robberies, practical jokes and pretty much ANY FORM OF INTERRUPTION offer you a lot of life and drama everyday. But why do we miss the funny idiosyncratic parts of our day that make lives so richly full?

The bloody schedule needs to be torn up, until we learn to hold it loosely; so loosely that an interrupting stranger can easily pry it from our grasping fingers.

The Schedule is in your Head
